The Prajied is a cloth cord worn around the upper arm by Muay Thai fighters. It is both a protective item and a symbol of good fortune, protection and reassurance. It is said to have originated during ancient times of war, when family members, especially mothers, would tear off a piece of clothing and tie it around a warrior’s arm as a blessing and sign of protection. Today, it symbolises being protected and blessed, and reminds the wearer to face challenges with faith and courage. Its appearance is simple and understated, but its meaning is clear.
